Our University of Rochester Chamber Orchestra thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Santiago. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and provided a perfect mix of interesting information about Chilean history as well as very useful advice on what to see and do in Santiago.  The fact that we could start from our hotel lobby and make the tour on foot was a real plus for our circumstance. Plus the ice cream was an especially welcome treat on a hot summer's day! (Leer más)

Best Santiago Travel Deals

Arrived in Santiago after an overnight flight from Washington, DC. Wanted to both see the city and to get some exercise too. Wanted a guide to show the highlights on the first afternoon. Booked the reservation easily before leaving home via email. The folks at B.V. were very helpful and set up not only the city tour, but also arranged a guided car tour of the Valparaiso area as well. Arrived a bit late to meet B.V. guide, an American (Leer más)

Regarding the tour...

Regarding the tour experience, it was perfect.  I do not remember the name of our guide, but he was excellent, as was his assistant, who fearlessly threw himself in front of the traffic to protect us.  His English was very good, and he was very knowledgeable and informative.  For me, the highlight of the tour was the Pablo Neruda house, and the guide's explanations.  The large market was also interesting.  The most valuable part of the tour was seeing parts (Leer más)

Reflections on Santiago and...

hace 9 meses
I arrived in Santiago a few days early last month (August 2008) to enjoy the city prior to a three-week business trip throughout Chile and Peru.  I spent the first day recovering from my overnight flight from New York City and discovered La Bicicleta Verde while browsing online for interesting things to do in Santiago.    With all due respect to the wonderful historical and cultural landmarks in Chile and elsewhere, I’ve had my share of museums and churches in my (Leer más)

Hola Santiago

hace 10 meses
From the blog Chile con Elizabeth¡Santiago es enorme! A few nights ago, I ventured out of the Barrio Brasil, where we've been staying all week, for an evening tour of the city by bike. I grabbed a greasy empanada on a street corner near Los Heroes and took the subway east, almost to the end of the line, to Alcantara. We have been warned, by just about everyone, about our safety in Santiago, so fumbling for the right coins for (Leer más)

Biking Santiago

hace 10 meses
by Nathalie Arlington On Sunday afternoon, I went on a bike tour of Santiago. La Bicicleta Verde has only been in existence for a few months, but they did a good job. I enjoyed biking around town. But I am happy we did it on Sunday, when traffic was slow, and not during the week!We biked around downtown mostly, stopping in several neighborhoods, including Bellavista, Cerro Santa Lucia, and downtown.A fountain at Cerro Santa Lucia.Cerro Santa Lucia.Chile has a huge (Leer más)

Santiago de Chile: A nice...

hace 1 año
from Magical World Before going to Santiago de Chile, a lot of people told us “Ah, you’ll see, it’s nothing there. Just a big business center!” or “Santiago? Oh no! Don’t stay there longer than a day! It’s horrible!”. Even our guidebook made us believe that Santiago was not worth the effort saying that “you shouldn’t spend too much time here” or “Santiago shouldn’t be the highlight of your stay in Chile”. But we actually proved all those people and (Leer más)

On the glowing recommendation of a few local ex-pats, I tried out La Bicicleta Verde. It definitely lived up to the reputation. I took the 7PM night tour, which weaves up through wealthy Las Condes into beautiful, residential Vitacura and back into Santiago through the parks along the river. The guide, Peter, a 4-year vet of Santiago from Kansas, supplied knowledgeable and engaging narration throughout. I had been living in Santiago for 2 months at this point and was not (Leer más)

Riding Cerro San Cristobal

hace 1 año
fron the blog Operation Ironman Today I made a major discovery, at least for me that is. I was planning on doing a long run, with maybe an hour of cycling thrown in. The bike I rented yesterday was just a piece of crap. and I really did not look forward to riding that thing again. After all when coming down a long downhill its good to have decent brakes, yesterdays bike ( which as the guy who rented it (Leer más)
