Y&T (LIVE) - Live At The Carling Academy, Newcastle U.K.

A couple of years back Y&T made a triumphant appearance at the touring Monsters Of Rock festival, opening the show for Gary Moore and Whitesnake. The common consensus opinion of that tour was that Y&T blew everyone clean off the stage during their short, yet celebrated, opener set.

The fact that Y&T were returning to the U.K. for their own headlining tour was greeted with great anticipation and this was clear by the large turnout at the Academy. Newcastle has always had something of a soft spot for Bay Area's finest since their incendiary live shows supporting AC/DC and their

It’s been a very busy few weeks on the gig front with Rush, Heaven and Hell, Foreigner, and Y&T amongst many others all paying a visit to the variety of venues dotted around Newcastle and making things very interesting and very expensive for the Rock fans in the area. One tour, which was not to be missed, was Alice Cooper along with guests Joan Jett and Motorhead.

Joan Jett hasn’t played the UK in years, but hit the stage looking as if no time had passed at all since her days at the top of the UK charts. Dressed head

For a long time there was nothing to hear from the Finnish Symphonic Metalers in Nightwish. Since the dramatic departure of vocalist Tarja Turunen, the band had been writing new songs for a new high budget album. It’s been three long years since the release of their best-selling record Once. Now, the sequel release came out in September 2007, the long-awaited record Dark Passion Play, which is a definitive musical masterpiece. The expectations fans have had through the previous two years have been blended. Many will not forgive the four guys for their decision of firing Tarja. Filling

JORN - Blęst, Trondheim, Norway

Legendary Norwegian Heavy Metal vocalist Jørn Lande has just finished his short Norwegian tour before he once again enters the studio to create yet another solo album. On this tour he only played small venues, and the gig in Trondheim was no exception. Somewhere between 250 and 300 headbangers had found their way to the small venue Blæst, and the place was chock-full. Though it’s a small venue, it’s very intimate and the band developed a really good connection with the audience.

Jorn has worked hard since he had his breakthrough in the mid-90’s, and he has made a name

FOREIGNER - Live at The City Hall, Newcastle (U.K.)

Back in the summer of 2006, Foreigner made their first tentative steps back onto the shores of the UK. It had been 10 long years since Mick and the boys had graced the UK stages and the three shows they played were to test the water to see if there was still a fan base there. The phenomenal success and “Sold Out” signs outside of the venues proved emphatically that we were still here and fans wanted more.

Roll on to 2007 and more is exactly what the UK gets. This time a full-blown 7-date UK Tour covering the length

September 29th is a date that most Progressive Metallers in Norway will remember for a long time. This was the night when the legends of Progressive Metal, Dream Theater, and Symphonic Power/Progressive Metallers Symphony X gathered their strength to give the people of Norway an incredible night of technical, complex, and proficient Metal.

Symphony X
It can’t be an easy job to be a warm-up band for the mighty Dream Theater. Symphony X, however, was cut out for the job beyond any doubt. As the orchestra version of the intro “Oculus Ex Inferni” from their new record Paradise Lost was

ICED EARTH / ANNIHILATOR (LIVE) - Rockefeller, Oslo, Norway

ANNIHILATOR

Annihilator left no doubt they were about to rock, opening the show with “King Of The Kill,” one of their very best tracks. One of the main tasks of any opening act is to set the mood quickly, and one might definitely say that Annihilator pulled this task off with ease. The crowd certainly responded well to the band’s energetic performance, and when “Welcome To Your Death” came halfway through the show, it was hard to forget Annihilator was actually not the headliner.

The band also made sure they not only delivered in terms of quality, but in sufficient

HEAVEN AND HELL (LIVE) - Live At The Metro Arena, Newcastle (UK)

When Messrs Dio, Iommi, Butler, and Appice reunited to record three new tracks for Black Sabbath’s The Dio Years compilation, it set the ball rolling for what was one of the most eagerly awaited reunions in recent years.

Adopting the name “Heaven And Hell” to avoid any confusion with the Ozzy Osbourne fronted version of Black Sabbath was a shrewd move and enabled the band to concentrate purely on the Dio-era material. The first fruits of this liaison in the live arena were captured on the excellent Heaven And Hell: Live from Radio City Music Hall DVD, which was released

Posted by N3L1T4 in Music Reviews on November 26, 2007 at 16:21

Barely 6 months have passed since Blackie Lawless and W.A.S.P. toured Norway last time, visiting 7 different cities as they promoted their newest release. Tonight they were once again rocking Rockefeller Stage in Oslo. The band is currently touring Europe, reliving old memories from The Crimson Idol album that is celebrating its 15 year anniversary this year.

Doors opened up at 8. After the support acts Sahg and Triosphere warmed up the crowd, and they did a great job with that, the time was set for the main act. As the roadies were preparing the stage for W.A.S.P., fans could
