MITT Romney, the widely hailed front-runner for the Republican Party's 2012 presidential nomination, has finally confirmed his candidacy and immediately attacked what pundits mark as Barack Obama's Achilles heel - a faltering US economy.
The former Massachusetts governor repeated his pledge to dismantle Mr Obama's healthcare reforms, which he said would ''bankrupt the nation''.
Launching his campaign on Thursday on a New Hampshire farm, the 64-year-old Mormon said: ''Barack Obama has failed America. When he took office, the economy was in recession. He made it worse. And he made it last longer.''
