Norms and Values as crucial parts of a culture

During socialization each individual learns the culture of his or her society. The behaviour of human beings must be based on guidelines which have to be learned, since individuals do not have an inherent instinct to direct their actions. Members within a society share these learned guidelines in order to cooperate effectively within the society. Norms and values play a crucial part during the lifelong process of “social learning”.
